In building renovation, this solution helps increasing the energy performance and avoids thermal breaks which can be frequent. A “second skin” guarantees a continuous insulation barrier. It also avoids the disadvantages of indoor works. The volumes of rooms are maintained with no reduction of the dimensions.
External insulation is also an opportunity for deep renovation. The structure permits any finishing touch and the building will get a new look. On this picture: open cladding in rough-sawn Douglas fir.
